Title

Long Building

Description

The Long Building is located on Elon’s historic central campus and includes classroom and academic departments. The building is between East Lebanon Avenue and the Alamance Building. When first constructed the first floor housed a new grill, the college infirmary, the bookstore, student mailboxes, commuter lounges, and administrative offices. The Long Building is named after Dr. William Samuel Long, founder and first president of the college. Dr. Long served as the president from 1889-1894 and resigned to become Alamance County’s school superintendent. In fall 1995, the Long Building reopened following renovations that changed the Varsity Grille and Campus Shop into offices, classrooms, and a computer lab. A faculty lounge and all-purpose conference room were also put into the Long building. In spring of 1996, the Long Building became home to the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, which officially opened on November 14, 1995. Following the construction of the Koury Business Center, the Love School of Business was moved out of the Long Building.
