Description
Photograph of "The Cross in the Clouds", an aluminum cross erected at the crash site by cadets of the Royal Australian Air Force from Garbutt RAAF base. The cross has the names of the twelve crash victims inscribed upon it. Since the mountain is often shrouded in tropical mist, it is known as the Cross in the Clouds. This makes the crash site one of the few in the South Pacific to have such a memorial.
