This is a closeup photograph of the front of the "Cross in the Clouds", located on Mt. Straloch, Hitchenbrook Island, Queensland, Australia. The cross is an aluminum cross erected in 1960 by cadets of the Air Training Corps located at Garbutt air field (now RAAF Townsville). It lists the names of the crew and passengers who died when the plane crashed on December 18, 1942, including co-pilot Dewey Hooper.
