Dewey Hooper's Shaving Kit

Dewey Hooper, Elon College Class of 1940

This is a photograph of a shaving kit that was issued to Dewey Hooper by the U. S. Army Air Forces. It consists of a green fabric case, which has the following items: one comb, one nail file, one small mirror, one bar of soap (in small plastic box), one razor head with razor blade; one razor handle; one spare razor blade in paper wrapper; one tube of tooth cream; one tube of lanolin shaving cream; and one small shaving brush. The tubes were manufactured by the E. R. Squibb & Sons Company of New York. The case has a tag that says, "Buddy Kit Trade Mark Pat. Pend. Los Angeles"; the reverse of the tag says, "In Pocket Size to Keep You Clean and Fit". On one of the inside flaps of the case is written in ink: "A/C Dewey G. Hooper 34115352". Metal items in kit are rusted and fabric is stained and frayed with age.
