This is a photograph of the World War II Victory Medal awarded posthumously to Second Lieutenant Dewey Hooper. This service medal was authorized by Congress in July 1945 and awarded to individuals who served in the United States Armed Forces between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946. The packet includes both the medal and the service ribbon, which would have been worn on a service uniform in place of the medal.
