Description

This is a photograph of a metal fragment that was part of Dewey Hooper's B-24 Liberator Bomber, which crashed in Australia in December 1942. The fragment is steel and is twisted with jagged edges. Painted on the fragment is the following inscription: "B-24 Liberator-Serial No. 123825-Crashed Hichinbrook (sic) IL. Australia-18 December-42". After this inscription, the names, ranks, and serial numbers of the five crew members are listed along with the nickname of the aircraft, "Texas Terror".
