The James P. Elder Lecture series

On April 6, 2006, a new lecture series began at Elon named after the driving force behind the founding of the Liberal Arts Forum, Dr. James P. Elder Jr. The first of the Elder lectures was given by William Graham, the dean of the School of Divinity at Harvard University.

Dr. James P. Elder Jr. was the visionary behind the Liberal Arts Forum and is now the namesake of the Elder Lecture Series hosted each year by Elon University and the Liberal Arts Forum.

Since its beginning, the Elder Lecture Series has hosted many famous guests, who are distinguished in their careers such as in journalism, academia, politics, diplomatic relations, music, and cooking.
