The Liberal Arts Forum Today

Today, the members of the Liberal Arts Forum continue to bring high-quality academic speakers to Elon, working throughout the semester to select two to three speakers for the Forum's fall and spring lecture series. As Elon University now officially offers the Forum as a course, students can even receive academic credit for taking part in the selection and planning process.

A newspaper article titled "Student Club Oversees Guest Speaker Selections" appearing on page 6 of the April 5, 2017 edition of The Pendulum student newspaper. The article describes the structure, focus, and selection process of the Liberal Arts Forum.

The speakers that the Liberal Arts Forum brings to campus far exceed just the Elder lecture series. Each year the Forum brings between three and four speakers to campus, the Elder Lecturer being one of them, oftentimes partnering with other campus organizations or departments to help bring speakers to campus.

In 2016, as a part of the Voices of Discovery Science Speakers Series, the Liberal Arts Forum helped to bring former astronaut Thomas D. Jones to speak. His lecture was titled "When Rocks Attack: Risks and Opportunities from Near-Earth Asteroids."
