Commission
On August 4, 1942, Dewey received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in order to accept a commission as an officer in the Army Air Forces Reserve. This discharge was issued at the Advanced Flying School at Turner Field, Albany, Georgia, and has his serial number, signature, and fingerprint. The following day he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.
